VCNAA Minutes April 22, 2010
Members Present: Jeanne Brink; Judy Dow; Brad Barratt

This meeting was brought to order by the Secretary at 1:00 pm in the AOT Board Room, 5th Floor, National Life Building, Montpelier, Vermont.
1. Working Meeting
a. Minutes from the March 25th meeting
The minutes are available to the public in draft form. Without a quorum, the minutes could not be approved at this meeting.
b. Discussion on tribal recognition
Judy presented a draft of the most current bill for Abenaki recognition; No.2.2 – S.222, 4/22/2010/MWS 9:01am.
Judy also presented a document by author, Frederick M. Wiseman, Ph.D. “Decolonizing the Abenaki: A methodology for detecting Vermont Tribal Identity”
c. Jeanne Brink presented information on Native American workshops and Abenaki language camps that are free to the public.
d. The creation of Commission Policy and Procedure was discussed and will be on the agenda for the May 27th meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 pm.
